- For WU and WUMC employees, Live Near Your Work annual funding is running low for this 2020 fiscal year (ending June 30, 2020).
- We have a very limited number of Live Near Your Work loans remaining, and once they are issued no new loans will be given until at least July 1, 2020.
- Live Near Your Work loans are issued on a first come, first served basis, based on when a signed real estate contract is submitted to us via email.
- This does not apply to BJC HealthCare employees, only to WU and WUMC employees.
“I moved to St. Louis for graduate school from the West Coast, where owning a home was a long-held ambition but never financially viable. I first learned about the Live Near Your Work Program at one of the WashU health fairs; however, as a postgraduate fellow at the time, I was not immediately eligible. When I joined the faculty of University College and transitioned into a teaching role, I followed up with Jeff and he helped me navigate the application and approval process. My own target neighborhoods matched those of the LNYW program, and when the perfect condo came on the market we were ready to move on it. The $8,500 LNYW forgivable loan made all the difference in my mortgage approval and closing costs. I also benefited from the free, first-time homebuyer course required to participate in the program. Today, I live in a wonderful neighborhood close to campus and to Forest Park; two anchors of my new life in St. Louis.”
