“I moved to St. Louis for graduate school from the West Coast, where owning a home was a long-held ambition but never financially viable. I first learned about the Live Near Your Work Program at one of the WashU health fairs; however, as a postgraduate fellow at the time, I was not immediately eligible. When I joined the faculty of University College and transitioned into a teaching role, I followed up with Jeff and he helped me navigate the application and approval process. My own target neighborhoods matched those of the LNYW program, and when the perfect condo came on the market we were ready to move on it. The $8,500 LNYW forgivable loan made all the difference in my mortgage approval and closing costs. I also benefited from the free, first-time homebuyer course required to participate in the program. Today, I live in a wonderful neighborhood close to campus and to Forest Park; two anchors of my new life in St.  Louis.”
